French Fashion
French fashion is legendary in design and rich in history. French clothing has been admired and loved by fashion connoisseurs since Louis XIV.
King Louis XIV
In the mid 1600-1700's Louis XIV ceased all imports of fabric and goods into France. The French created a powerful industry which produced silk, ribbons, and fine textiles. This resulted in major exports of textiles and luxury clothing to all of Europe. Design houses have remained even after the death of some of their creators.

Tennis star, Rene Lacoste, created garments with an embroidered alligator. The was the 1st instance of a designer logo used in fashion.
1600's Jean Donneau de Vise created the French fashion press. It advertised styles of clothing worn by members of the royal court. Long after magazines like Elle, the current fashion bible, were created in 1945. Paris hold 2 important fashion weeks. One is in September and one in February. This is to display clothing for fall/winter and spring/summer.

Extension:
We will have a "fashion show" using the dress up clothes. The teacher will be the host. The students that don't want to dress up will be the audience.
